Innovating social commerce: AmEx cardholders Tweet to save

In a recent post I looked at the most innovative companies, which include American Express in the finance category (it was 1 of 2 non-web finance companies featured).

AmEx recently announced a brilliant service for its cardholders, allowing them save money by effortlessly redeeming promotions using Twitter.

This is a beautiful example of how a 162-year old company can still be innovative and deliver measurable value to its clients and partners.


The most innovative companies

Innovation is a much sought after, yet often elusive concept that most companies want to be associated with.

In it’s March 2012 issue, Fast Company highlights the world’s 50 most innovative companies. While some of these may not come as a surprise, others are up and coming start-ups, operating in uncharted waters in a market near you. The list also includes the top-10 by industry.

While it can be tough to create sustainable and innovative competitive advantages, most of these companies have done so by using a combination of various innovative factors: (more…)
